Celebrating Christmas with the Girls!
We had a fantastic Christmas party for the girls that we serve! The girls enjoyed discussing the Christmas story, opening presents, and taking pictures with Santa. We were so blessed by our wonderful hostess opening up her home with us. The girls loved the presents provided by St. George Orthodox Church and Kingwood Speech Pathology Services.
Our party could not have happened without Free the Captives’ wonderful volunteers. Thank you for blessing the girls with your time and support!
Free the Captives’ also wants to thank Allison Elliot and South Main Baptist Church for providing Christmas for a victim and her family. You all went above and beyond to make sure this family had a great Christmas!
7 Days of Prayer for Teen Trafficking Victims
While this weekend was special because we got to celebrate with the girls, today my heart is burdened for them. Because of our culture and influence of media, there is often this ideal of the perfect Christmas – lots of presents, the perfect family laughing around a fireplace, and a ton of fun. Many of the trafficking victims I work with don’t have any of these things, and Christmas is very difficult for them. There is no tree. There are no presents. There are only dysfunctional family members and broken hearts.
And so, for the seven days leading up to Christmas, I ask that you pray for Free the Captives’ girls – for their hearts and minds. Pray that God would bless them so much on Christmas that it would be the best Christmas ever! Pray that despite whatever they may lack materially or in family relationships, that God would fill their hearts with His love and peace this Christmas.
Starting this Thursday, Dec. 18, I will post a specific prayer request for the girls on Facebook each day until Christmas. Please join us for “7 Days of Christmas Prayers” for Free the Captives’ girls by liking our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FreetheCaptivesHouston, and praying each day. Let us know that you are praying by leaving a comment or your own prayer under each prayer request post.
Thank you for praying, and making a difference in these teenaged girls’ lives!
Blessings,

From the Field: A Trafficker Behind Bars
Recently, we helped a Houston teen trafficking victim in getting justice against her trafficker. Often times, it is very difficult for trafficking victims to give up or turn in their trafficker. This young lady was extremely afraid of the trafficker; he had been threatening her and her family. But she had the courage to tell her story to law enforcement, and now this man face human trafficking charges. We are so proud of her bravery! It is such an honor to walk alongside her. Please keep her in your prayers as she focuses on her future.
